Apply Now for a Horse Trust Welfare Grant

Apply Now for a Horse Trust Welfare Grant The Horse Trust is inviting applications for its 2008 welfare grants for non-invasive research into equine diseases and post-graduate scholarships. The charity boasts an impressive programme of existing equine welfare grants with a rolling financial commitment of £3.5 million.

Applications should reflect the charity's mission; "to promote the health and welfare of horses through knowledge and ethical scientific research to reduce disease and suffering" - and will have to be endorsed by its scientific sub-committee.

Veterinary schools, university departments, research institutes and charities in the United Kingdom that have an interest in the horse are eligible to apply. Veterinary practices with registered equine hospitals may apply for the equine scholarships and appropriately qualified individuals may apply for the clinical awards.

The Echo Memorial Appeal launched by The Horse Trust to raise funds to win the battle against equine colic has been well supported and donations continue to support this objective. The fund invests in further research to manage and treat this sometimes fatal but always painful and frightening condition. Applications received for scientific research into colic and associated conditions are welcome.

Grant applications fall into four categories:

Scientific Projects
Clinical Training Scholarships
Clinical Awards
Facilities Grants
