Trust to Present at Up-Coming Symposium
The most up-to-date equine gastro-intestinal research and full papers of some of the studies presented at the British Equestrian Veterinary Association’s 9th Colic Symposium are being published in a special edition of the Equine Veterinary Journal, sponsored by The Horse Trust and distributed to 3,500 BEVA members, institutions and individuals around the world.
The symposium, held at Liverpool’s new Arena and Conference Centre from 15 to 18 June, includes a poster session also sponsored by the Trust. This gives the opportunity for post-graduate researchers to display their abstracts on gastroenterology.
The symposium brings together teams of clinicians and researchers who share a common interest in understanding and treating equine colic and attracts speakers and delegates from all over the world. Research focused, it also includes sessions on all aspects of equine gastroenterology including epidemiology, pharmacology, intestinal motility, endotoxaemia, clinical practice and post-operative survival.
“Colic can strike any horse at any time, whether it is a high-value racing stud or a child’s pony,” says Paul Jepson, chief executive and resident Veterinary Surgeon at The Horse Trust. “This global focus on the topic will encourage researchers and academicians to redouble their efforts to understand the causes and possibly develop a cure.”
