Loaning Your Horse

Loaning horses is a very sensible and practical option for sharing the costs of the care and welfare of a horse particularly in these difficult financial times. The Horsewatch Alliance has produced the attached “Wise Precautions for Loaning Your Horse” Fact Sheet which gives guidelines for loaning horses and was produced in response to the rise in horses going missing whilst on loan. They are also advising and encouraging horse owners to re-visit their existing loans to ensure all is what they think it is.

Horsewatch is a nationwide scheme set up to connect all horse owners and riders with the intention of improving security and communication. Their aim is to reduce rural and equine crime just like Neighbourhood Watch and is supported by most police forces. Each area has local groups, run by a co-ordinator, who acts as your first point of contact.
