Horse Trust Mourns Stevie's Passing

We Mourn for Stevie

Stevie

Stevie, the little white donkey who won the hearts of the staff and visitors at The Horse Trust’s Home of Rest for Horses, has been put peacefully to sleep after suffering an incurable attack of colic.

Stevie adored human company - so much so that he would much rather hang around on the yard, just in case he missed out on some juicy gossip - even pretending to be lame when led to his field but managing a sprightly trot back to the yard later in the day!

You could never pass Stevie without giving him a big cuddle – he squeaked for attention – and particularly loved his red treat ball filled with his favourite delicacy – grass nuts!

But recently Stevie was obviously feeling off colour. He was unusually quiet, hadn’t eaten his tea and appeared uncomfortable.  Despite veterinary treatment, he was diagnosed with incurable colic and was quietly put to sleep in the evening, after the vet’s second visit.

Stevie was 32 years old.  He was a huge favourite and staff and visitors will all miss him very much.
