New Arrivals Thrive With TLC
After three months in quarantine with good food, constant handling and veterinary care, they have all put on weight, their coats are glossy and the warmer days are prompting the six colts to kick up their heels and gallop around the field into which they were released today.
“Even the older dun mare – thought to be almost blind – is now out in her field with Horse Trust pony Disney, who has taken on the role of ‘guide dog’ to Angel. Wherever he grazes, she moves alongside him and takes her lead from him. It’s lovely to see,” Susan added.
“Angel surprised us all with how well she has coped and she is thriving out on the paddocks.”
The donkeys – now believed to be grandmother, mother and foal because of the remarkable similarity of their markings – are also thriving. The filly foal, named Leonora, is very cheeky and leads her dam Lola and granny Gladys a merry dance!
“But many of the horses and donkey Lola are still very anxious … but every day shows an improvement,” Susan said.
