1975 - 2006
The modest profit remaining from the sale of the Boreham Wood site and the building of
Westcroft Stables in Buckinghamshire, wisely invested, had produced good capital growth
and healthy dividends, which enabled The Home to become the UK's leading funder of equine
welfare projects at a wide range of research institutions including the university veterinary
schools, welfare organisations and the Animal Health Trust. Nearly £20 million
has been invested in a wide variety of projects to benefit the health and welfare of horses.
Alongside its commitment to welfare, science and education, The Home continues to function as a sanctuary both for horses
rescued from hardship and as a dignified resting place for a number of old favourites who, after a lifetime of service, are a living
testimony of exemplary care and responsible ownership.
