Big Klyde

19hh chestnut gelding born in 1996

19hh retired police horse ‘Klydascope’ is affectionately known as Big Klyde. He came to The Horse Trust in July 2012 from Cleveland Police Mounted Section. Big Klyde was the tallest police horse in the UK and is now the tallest member of our herd. His Grandad was champion racehorse Mill Reef. Klydascope was originally meant to be an eventer, but grew too big and became a police horse instead!

The gorgeous chestnut Irish Draught cross served with Cleveland Police for over ten years. He worked at Remembrance Day parades and attended hundreds of football matches. He even represented Cleveland Police at the Lord Mayor’s parade in Liverpool in 2009 and appeared on the TV programme ‘Flog It’.  Gentle giant Klyde is in good company here as we have other retired police horses from all across the country.
