Vernon came to The Horse Trust in 2011 when he retired from the Metropolitan Police. The Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch is an historical institution that has served London since the eighteenth century. A typical day for Vernon would involve a 3-4 hour patrol. Horses within this department could be required to take part in protecting public order, enhancing security at football or sporting events, keeping the peace at public demonstrations, or attending state ceremonies. Vernon lived and carried out his duties from the Hammersmith stables in London and is now enjoying the slower pace of country life in his retirement!
