   Yanto PROFILE

Meet Yanto, a very special horse with many different strings on his bow. Yanto has not only served our country by helping protect our streets working with The Metropolitan Police, he has also helped to change the life of disabled and disadvantaged children by giving them the chance to ride and groom him whilst he worked with the Chigwell Riding for the Disabled Association. Not only this, but during his last few years before retirement, he spent time at Writtle College to help train students about basic horse care. Yanto really is a one in a million horse. It’s not every day that you can find a horse brave enough to take part in police patrols, local football matches and various public order situations, and also have patience and placidity to enjoy a good groom or ride with disabled or disadvantaged children. Yanto has been described as having the ‘biggest kindest eyes in the world’.  During his time at RDA, not only would he accept more challenging riders but he could also step up a gear and become a competition horse in dressage. He was partnered with a registered blind rider and together they qualified to compete at Hartpury National Championships where they went on to win their class! Yanto may have had a varied career, however he has given faultless service in all of them as he such an easy going horse who he very deserving of his retirement.
