13hh black mare, born 2010

This gorgeous little black mare was named “Eve” as she arrived Christmas Eve to the Horse Trust. She was rescued from the Binfield case where 30 horses were abandoned.  Many of the horses abandoned were pregnant and suffering from heavy worm burden.

We were very concerned for Eve’s health as she arrived in a very undernourished condition. She was underweight and riddled with small red-worm. Eve was also confirmed to be carrying a foal. She is a remarkably calm pony who has obviously carried foals before. Thirteen of the horses and ponies had to be put to sleep on welfare grounds at the scene, so we were worried that weak little Eve would not pull through.

Thankfully, a few weeks after arrival, Eve's condition slowly stabilised and her health was on the up. She was under constant surveillance in the hope that she would give birth safely.

Amazingly in May, a true miracle happened, and Eve gave birth to a healthy foal that was named Gabriel.
