The Home of Rest for Horses
Her Majesty The Queen paid a surprise visit to The Home of Rest for Horses on April 1. Staff were delighted to show off some of the retired horses
which are enjoying a well deserved rest after many years of faithful service.
As a knowledgeable horsewoman, Her Majesty enjoyed talking to the grooms about the horses in their care, including two cheeky Shetland ponies and a
couple of elderly donkeys. The Home’s oldest resident Big John, who has now reached the grand age of 38, was especially honoured to be fed his favourite
treats.
The Home of Rest for Horses was proud to have received such a visit and all the staff were left hoping that, one day, she might just surprise us again!
