His twilight years have ended
The Home of Rest for Horses, the world's oldest horse charity, is saddened to announce the premature death of one of its most friendly and charming characters.
Twenty-six-year-old Twilight, famous for pulling the 240-year-old Golden State Coach in celebration of The Queen's Golden Jubilee on 4 June 2002, became unwell
unexpectedly and passed away on 6 February 2005.
Brigadier Paul Jepson, Chief Executive and resident Veterinary Surgeon of The Home expressed his sadness. "The death of one of our horses is always difficult but
something which, as a retirement home, is inevitable,” he said. “The loss of Twilight will leave a big hole at The Home."
One of a pair of Windsor greys Twilight will be missed by all the staff at The Home but particularly by Iceland who marched proudly by his side on the streets of London.
