The Horse Trust's on-going commitment to advancing horse health and welfare through veterinary
research is evident in the charity's support of the Equine Health and Welfare Strategy.
The Equine Health and Welfare Strategy is a 10 year plan to ensure that:
- all horses, ponies and donkeys are as healthy as possible
- are treated humanely
- everyone is responsible for equine health and welfare understands and fulfils their duty of care
The Horse Trust has been funding equine scientific research for more than 40 years. Over £20 million has been
invested by the charity to improve the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of the many diseases that affect
horses. As the leading provider of funds to universities and veterinary schools The Horse Trust is appropriately championing
the review of research requirements for the industry by:-
- reviewing veterinary research arrangements
- identifying opportunities to improve funding, the quality and rate of progress of research
- the allocation, distribution and use of funds
- communication and uptake of results
On the 23rd May at Lea Valley Riding School, Leyton, London the "Action Phase of the Strategy" will be launched.
This Interactive event is free and will offer a "hands-on" learning experience.
