17/05/2015 Royal Windsor 2015

Mr Twister, aka Bert, had the honour of being ceremonially retired to us at The Horse Trust from The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery where he has served as the Parade Commander's Charger for the last ten years. He led Baroness Thatcher's funeral cortege in 2013 and his last big parade was leading the Troop out at the opening ceremony of the inaugural Invictus Games last year. He was led into the arena at Windsor by the Regimental Sergeant Major and accompanied by the Commanding Officer and the King's Troop Veterinary Officer and it was a highly emotional moment for everyone when his saddle was removed for the final time. Congratulations Bert on an amazing career, your fittingly grand retirement ceremony and we hope, your many happy years to come in retirement with us.

We also brought along 2 of our “pintsized” stars, Fidget and Widget! Our two rescue Shetlands lapped up the limelight, proving to be a big hit with the visitors and even showing of their hidden talents helping out behind the stand!
