09/11/2016 Rehoming success as the year draws to a close

The team here at The Horse Trust are very proud that in a space of year since we launched our rehoming scheme, all of our horses have found homes for life. We are so delighted of this achievement and we hope we can continue to change the lives for our next residents who will be available to rehome in the next year.

Our last resident to be successfully rehomed was our lovely little Squiggy. This little chap arrived at The Horse Trust in September 2011 as a welfare case with one other pony when he was just 12 months old. Their elderly owner was unable to provide the care they needed, and so The Horse Trust stepped in to provide him with a home. There is no other way to describe Squiggy other than an adorable little pony with a big personality. We will happily admit that they have a soft spot for this cheeky chap as you couldn’t walk past his stable without giving him kisses and cuddles! Five years on since he arrived with us, we were ready to wave Squiggy goodbye knowing that he will continue living the life that any horse deserves to live; running around in the fields with his new friends and getting pampered! We cannot put into words how much we are going to miss this sweet little chap, but we are over the moon that all of our horses available for rehoming have found homes for life.

Here is a reminder of the other residents we rehomed this year.Starlight and Magiie for news

• 9 year old Starlight arrived as a rescue pony in 2012 and was trained to drive carriages and rehomed in February 2016. She is now enjoying taking part in local shows and getting as many rosettes as she can!

• 5 year old Maggie also arrived in 2012 severely emaciated, covered in lice and very nervous of people and she too was rehomed in July 2016. She is now settling in to her new life and enjoying some one to one pampering.

After such a successful year, we are pleased to announce that Domino and Jenga are now in training in the hope that soon they will be ready to enjoy life to the full beyond the Home of Rest for Horses. It is now a case of training them and then finding the right long term, loving loan home for each of them. If you are interested in offering one of our lovely young horses a suitable home please get in touch or visit our rehoming page.
