The Spirit Of Windsor

After spending the past six months at Windsor as resident artist Jeremy Houghton unveils his latest exhibition ‘The Spirit of Windsor’ at The Osborne Studio Gallery on Wednesday 15th October in aid of The Horse Trust. With many beautiful sketches and paintings of castle life through the eyes of the horse the new exhibition cleverly captures what goes on behind the scenes at Windsor.

The Patron of the Horse Trust, H.R.H. The Princess Royal, has expressed her gratitude to Jeremy for choosing The Horse Trust as the benefactor charity for his new Spirit of Windsor exhibition. In the forward to the exhibition catalogue she writes “As Patron of The Horse Trust I am very grateful to Jeremy Houghton for choosing The Horse Trust as the benefactor charity of ‘The Spirit of Windsor’ Exhibition. The 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War 1 is an important year; it has highlighted the vital role and sacrifice horses have made both on and off the battlefield, and how the highest standards of animal welfare have been provided by the compassion and professionalism of The Horse Trust since 1886.”

Established in 1886, the Horse Trust is the world’s oldest horse charity and to this day relies wholly on public donations for financial support. In thanking Jeremy for his kindness Horse Trust Chief Executive, Jeanette Allen said “Jeremy has been very generous in making us the benefactors of his new exhibition. I have been fortunate to get a sneak preview of Jeremy’s new paintings and they are wonderful. Eqine art has such a tremendous following across Britain, and throughout the world and ‘The Spirit of Windsor’ will deservedly attract a great deal of interest.”

Jeremy’s many distinguished residencies have furthered his growing reputation as an audacious, imaginative inventor of images. His paintings explore the dynamics of motion and light, inviting us to speculate upon our changing perception of reality, the different ways in which we represent the visual world, and how the compulsion to represent shapes our grasp of reality.

‘The Spirit of Windsor’, jeremy’s latest exhibition of paintings opens on Wednesday 15th October at The Osborne Studio Gallery on Motcombe Street, with a private viewing.
